It’s Whatever the Reason Season!

December 23, 2019

Several years ago, a coworker and I were discussing our plans for the upcoming holidays. I mentioned that, although I …

So it’s not summer yet. It’s not even spring proper. But I saw 60 on the forecast today, and that’s good enough for me! For today’s #WorkwearWednesday I pulled one of my preppy spring/summer ensembles out of the closet and dressed with no regrets. Okay, that’s not true…I regret for your sakes that I don’t have pantyhose to cover those deathly pale legs, but you’re getting hair, makeup and even jewelry, so don’t judge me.
They say, “Dress for the job you want.”  But, can we also dress for the SEASON we want?  As much as I appreciate sparkling snow-covered landscapes, I’m a spring girl, through and through. I need sunshine. I need green. I need flowers and bees and gentle warm rain. And so, to that end, I pulled one of my favorite ensembles out of my closet, one I think evokes a blooming spring day. If I were a flower, what kind do you think I would I be?
Today on the Blog: I get a bit mushy and sentimental with a trip back to eighth grade, in recognition of Valentine's Day this Sunday. Sometimes, the most valuable gift isn't jewelry. It's a gesture. Link to the post is in my bio!
Spoiler alert on that first video: we did the full walk. Alaska was enjoying the fresh snow so much that I couldn't cut it short. (Sorry for the heavy breathing; Alaska was excited to be out and trotted down to the trail.) The lake and trails are simply gorgeous, and the photos don't do them justice.
I really don’t know HOW it’s Wednesday again already. The weeks are both crawling along and flying by, wouldn’t you agree? So here I am with another #WorkwearWednesday outfit to share with you.
#flashbackfriday To sunnier days across the pond, circa July 2011. We packed up and headed to England with Pete's family for an epic 7-day (may have been 6 or 8?) canal boat trip. The weather was warm, the land was green, and the company was....well, it was people other than my husband, which seems like a big deal in these 'rona days. We spent a bit of time in London proper before taking to the canals of the English countryside in 3 narrow boats we had no clue how to operate before the short lesson given to us. Our instructor was basically, "do this, don't do that, mind the cill, here's the windlass," then jumped out minutes after helping guide us out of the port and sending us on our way. I think I'd quite like to try it all again.
